Collection Volunteer

Location: In-person, variable locations (based on volunteer availability)
Commitment: Occasional, once every few months
Minimum age: 18+

Role Description

Image In is seeking reliable Collection Volunteers to help collect clothing and accessory donations from individuals and community donors. This role is essential to ensuring donated items reach us safely and efficiently so they can be redistributed to those who need them.

Collections are organised on a case-by-case basis, depending on volunteer availability and location.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect donated clothing and items from pre-arranged addresses
• Transport donations safely to an agreed drop-off point
• Follow clear collection instructions and safety guidance
• Communicate clearly if issues arise during collections

Travel & Transport

• Volunteers must have their own reliable method of transport
• Public transport is not suitable due to distances and the volume of donations
• Collection areas will vary, with larger coverage areas being particularly helpful

Safety & Boundaries

• Volunteers will not be required to enter anyone’s home
• Items will either be collected from doorsteps or left outside for collection
• All collection addresses will be pre-approved and organised in advance
• Personal safety alarms can be provided upon request

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Aged 18 or over
• Reliable and comfortable travelling independently
• Able to lift and transport bags or boxes of clothing
• Comfortable following safety procedures

Desirable

• Flexible availability
• Familiarity with local areas

Time Commitment

• Occasional support, typically once every few months
• Timing arranged in advance to suit volunteer availability
