Styling Volunteer
Location: In-person (London and surrounding areas)
Commitment: Event-based / occasional
Minimum age: 18+
Role Description
Image In is seeking compassionate and confident Styling Volunteers to support transgender and gender-diverse service users in exploring clothing, personal style, and self-expression in a safe, affirming environment.
Styling Volunteers work directly with service users, offering personalised guidance based on individual preferences, comfort, and goals. This role is about encouragement, body positivity, and helping people feel more confident in how they present themselves.
Key Responsibilities
- Work one-to-one with service users during events
- Discuss likes, dislikes, and how individuals hope to dress and present themselves
- Support service users in selecting clothing that aligns with their identity and comfort
- Offer gentle, affirming guidance around styling and outfit choices
- Create a supportive, judgement-free experience that prioritises dignity and consent
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Aged 18 or over
- A warm, affirming, and body-positive approach
- Comfortable working directly with transgender and gender-diverse people
- Good listening skills and an encouraging communication style
Desirable
- Interest in fashion, styling, or clothing
- Experience in retail, fashion, or community support roles
(No formal fashion training is required.)
Time Commitment
- Event-based and flexible
- Volunteers can sign up for individual events as availability allows
Support & Safeguarding
- Clear guidance provided before and during events
- The founder will be present at events to offer support and oversight
- DBS checks may be introduced as the organisation grows
